"As we do with our annual fitness challenge in the summer, it's always so great to see our members actively involved in our health and wellness initiatives and we value this relationship."

About the GHT's Healthy Holidays Challenge
The WCA Group Health Trust offered some extra incentive to its members with a Healthy Holiday Challenge, which ran from December 1-28, 2014. Besides the benefits received by eating healthy and staying active, particpants were able to help their local food pantry. The WCA Group Health Trust (GHT) then donated to local food pantries chosen by participating members.
With parties to attend, shopping to do and celebrations to participate in, it can be difficult to make sure your diet includes the recommended balance of fruits and vegetables. The USDA recommends 2 1/2 cups of vegetables and 2 cups of fruit daily. It is also recommended that a person do at least 30 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity each day.
Participants earned up to three points/day. One point for consuming 2 1/2 cups of vegetables a day, one point for consuming 2 cups of fruit daily and an additional point for 30 continuous minutes of moderate to vigorous activity. The maximum number of points any participant can earn in one day was 3 and the maximum points for one week are 21.
Each week 12 different local food pantries received a $50 donation.
Every week participants submitted their weekly point total and the top 12 scores and ties were entered in a drawing. Twelve names were drawn and those winners chose a local food pantry, which received a $50 donation from the WCA Group Health Trust in that winner's name.
